Magical Mystery Tour: Ukrainian Kids Allegedly Taught Russian, Martial Arts, and Balalaika

The president of Ukraine, Mr. Zelenskyy, shared something quite surprising.

He said some Ukrainian kids are possibly being taken on a strange new trip by Russia. This trip could teach them Russian, martial arts, and even how to play the balalaika, which is a guitar-like instrument.

Imagine a summer camp where instead of learning to swim, kids are taught martial arts by a coach named Boris the Bear Wrestler. Boris has a very serious face and a very thick mustache.

In this camp, it's very normal to learn how to balance on one leg while drinking cabbage soup.

There is a report that says the kids find themselves in a Russian language class. The chalkboard reads, 'Здравствуйте!' which means 'Hello!' in English.

The kids may also learn 'Съешьте больше борща,' meaning 'Eat more borscht.' The Russian teacher might be Olga, who knits during lessons and loves cats.

After language class, the kids could have a musical session. Here, every child gets a balalaika.

Yuri, the music teacher, explains the history of the balalaika in a gentle voice. 'This is a proud instrument,' he might say, cradling it like a baby.

'From samtrovka to stasovka,' he whispers, which might be a deep and meaningful thing, or perhaps a kind of soup.

All of these activities could be considered unusual field trips. Picture this: a bustling camp where lessons include cooking pelmeni, a kind of Russian dumpling, and how to say 'Let's dance the kazachok!' Axel, the camp's dance instructor, firmly believes dancing is excellent exercise.

We are all left wondering whether these Ukrainian kids ever wanted to learn so much. Maybe the world should consider offering them a choice to join the ballet or perhaps plant sunflowers instead.
